Gypsy In Her Eyes - By Vinnie Vincent

The smells that filled the air on an autumn night in the city, the sounds, the stir of the crowds with a story that could be told by everyone that walks by.  But there is this one story that transends the excitement on the city streets on this cool night... Remember that romance that seemed so good?  How could there be anything but everlasting love? A more soulful telling of a story similar to Bob Seger's "Hollywood Nights" but this story takes place on the East coast and the girl in this story left such a strong impression on hearts she has broken that the tears still melt on the back streets.  For whatever the reason, a restless heart, wanderlust or just old world ways she picked up and disappeared as fast as she arrived.  There aren't too many girls like her and the ones this song is about we can't let go.  Maybe this story is too distant for some, but that pit we feel in our gut that tells us how real this girl is.   There is so much mystery about her. I don't know this girl, but the song that speaks of her makes me feel like I was the one who watched her drive off.  Why does she hide her feelings,  I know she is free, and maybe it's self preservation?  Maybe she doesn't let anyone get too close, so its their hearts that get broken.  I've never lived in New York City but when I close my eyes and listen to this song, I am looking out across the skyline and looking at lights from a distance wondering if she is back in town, because the last I heard she left for a new life in a quaint town with a mountain view.

"Gypsy In Her Eyes" is another un-released song written by Vinnie Vincent.   This is a song that no matter the version released could have been a huge hit and with very little work could very well be a theme to a love story in a movie.

The "Vinnie Vincent Vocal demo" version I believe is in the key of E major throughout the song and changes to C in the third verse. This song has been heard mostly on YouTube with a similar version released as a part of the "Warrior Sessions" and Demo recordings which is simply the same as the YouTube recording with a higher volume.  The Custom CD given to me personally by Vinnie which featured the song "Over You" also contains the same recording from Vinnie's personal masters and collection of demos.  This version features Vinnie on vocals and most definitely rivals any rock vocals of the day.   There is another version featuring Jeff Scott Soto.  Comparing my recording to the YouTube copy, the first difference right away is the quality.  You cannot hear all the elements in the YouTube version, the addition of more refined guitar work and a clear intro there is the keyboard.

There is yet another version from my understanding that also includes a love song that's matured and includes slightly different lyrics.  Perhaps a release of this as a single and as a bonus the Re-write could be in the works.   There is so much more to Vinnie Vincent's storying telling than simply shredding.  I love his shredding, I do!!!  However if you listen very closely, his guitar sings in harmony with the words so beautifully written.  I suspect Vinnie has a story about the inspiration that went into this song as it goes beyond skin depth of the C#m chord it goes much deeper.

NOTE:  Quoting Vinnie: "'Gypsy In Her Eyes' had a final lyric rewrite in 1996.  Songs have a way of maturing and growing into adulthood.  I was in Sweden in 1996 and recorded it with Göran Edman while I was in his country.  He did a great vocal. The First verse has found a beautiful lyric."

I promised to not release the music on my CD, here is a link to a YouTube version of the song: "Gypsy In Her Eyes"
